Embracing Change & Evolution: It's time for a new season.

Change is an inevitable part of life, a constant that we must learn to embrace rather than resist. After closing my salon business of 10 years, I’ve embarked on a new season of life, discovering the art of evolution in the process. My salon was not just a business to me but a sanctuary—a place where my creativity flourished, spirits were uplifted, and bonds established. Closing its doors was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. Although I obeyed God and knew it was time, it felt like I was losing a part of myself. However, I’ve come to realize that endings are not just finalities but also beginnings. This new chapter has pushed me to explore different facets of my identity and passions. It has been a journey of rediscovery and reinvention.

Everyone is going through some type of major life change and It's how you handle the changes that create the rest of your life. Navigating this can sometimes be difficult. Through the lens of nature, astrology, and personal experience, I’d like to share insights on how we can all embrace change and navigate life’s transitions with grace and ease. No matter what changes you're currently facing in your life, know that there is so much beauty to discover and that God is always guiding your path.

Nature’s Lessons on Change

Nature is the ultimate teacher when it comes to embracing change. Every living organism, from the smallest seed to the largest tree, undergoes cycles of growth, transition, and renewal (rebirth). Consider the following examples:

1. Seasons: The Earth’s four seasons—spring, summer, fall, and winter—demonstrate the beauty of cyclical (full circle) change. Each season has its purpose and beauty, reminding us that change is not only natural but necessary for growth and renewal. Winter comes every year and many plants and animals go dormant or hibernate, but think of the beauty of how they always know that spring is around the corner and they conspire together to be reborn, EVERY single year. Winter serves its purpose for rest as no one can continue to go on without understanding the need to pause and reset.

2. Butterflies: The metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly is a profound example of transformation. This process teaches us that change, though often uncomfortable and challenging, can lead to extraordinary new beginnings. Even when things get tough or you're lost, know that true freedom lies on the other side of your journey.

3. Trees: Trees shed their leaves in fall to conserve energy during the winter, only to burst forth with new growth in the spring. This cycle illustrates the importance of letting go of the old to make way for the new.

Astrological Insights on Change

Astrology also provides valuable insights into the nature of change. Even if you aren't "into astrology," God is so intentional and intricate, that even the sun, moon, and planets show us cycles and changes. You don't have to study or "believe" in astrology for it to exist and for you to recognize the sun rising each day or the lengths of days changing in different seasons. The planets and stars are in constant motion, influencing our lives in various ways. For instance:

1. Lunar Phases: The moon’s phases—from new moon to full moon and back—symbolize the cycles of beginnings, growth, culmination, and release. By aligning our actions with these phases, we can harness their energy to support our personal growth and transformation.

2. The Sun’s Journey: The Sun’s movement through the zodiac is a powerful symbol of change. Each month, as the Sun transitions into a new astrological sign, it brings a shift in energy and focus. This circular journey reflects the dynamic nature of life and encourages us to embrace the varying themes and lessons. For example, as the Sun moves from grounded Taurus to versatile Gemini, we are invited to shift our focus from stability and security to curiosity and communication. Recognizing and working with these shifts can help us flow more harmoniously with the natural rhythms of life. We are diverse and multifaceted creations that are meant to evolve over time and experience life in a multitude of ways.

Tools for Embracing Change

While life can throw you constant curveballs and change can be difficult, there are tangible steps we can take to embrace it more effectively:

1. Mindfulness and Acceptance: Practicing mindfulness helps us stay present and grounded during times of change. Accepting that change is a natural part of life allows us to release resistance and move forward with a sense of peace. Know that even if you have a bad day, you are never taking steps backwards and that your path is divinely guided.

2. Reflect and Reframe: Reflect on past experiences of change and how they have contributed to your growth. Reframe your perspective to see change as an opportunity for learning and evolution rather than a threat. Journaling helps a lot with reflections on where you have been and what you want to experience next in life.

3. Set Intentions: Clear intentions can guide you through transitions. Determine what you want to achieve or how you want to feel during this period of change, and take small, deliberate steps toward those goals.

4. Seek Support: Surround yourself with a supportive community of friends, family, or mentors who can provide encouragement and guidance. Sharing your experiences and feelings can lighten the emotional load and offer new perspectives. Everyone's community may look different. Whether your community is your church group, your weekly yoga meetup, or your house vibes with friends make sure you are surrounding yourself with those that align with your path and encourage you to evolve.

5. Self-Care: Prioritize self-care to maintain your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. This can include regular exercise, healthy eating, sufficient rest, and activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Remember, you don't have to change everything at once. Give yourself grace and take one step forward at a time.

Embracing change is an art—one that requires patience, resilience, and an open heart. God speaks daily, if we truly pay attention. By looking at all of God's creations and elements bigger than ourselves, we can find reassurance that change is a natural and essential part of life. With the right mindset and tools, we can navigate our transitions with grace, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and evolution. As I continue to embrace this new season of my life, I invite you to join me in celebrating the art of evolution, trusting that every change brings us closer to our true selves.

Healing is a journey,
