Soft Mornings in a Loud World: Grounding Yourself When You Don’t Have Time

I used to think my mornings had to look like those perfectly curated routines: taking the time to make lemon water or matcha, 30-minute meditation, journaling. And don’t get me wrong—I love all those things when I have the time. But as a mom, a wife, an entrepreneur, and a woman healing from burnout and back pain... I had to face a truth: sometimes I barely have five minutes to myself before life starts talking to me.

Some mornings, it's just me, my thoughts, and the Atlanta traffic waiting for me. My kids are older now, so I’m not chasing toddlers or packing diaper bags anymore—but I remember those days vividly. The early wakeups, the crying, the oatmeal & juice spills, the constant multitasking before your eyes even fully open. If that’s your reality right now, my heart is with you. Even though my mornings look different now, they still require intention. I’m usually navigating my own energy, trying to ground myself before the city noise, before clients, before being there for others.

For a long time, that used to feel like failure... Like I was doing something wrong if I didn’t sit cross-legged with a matcha in hand and affirmations pouring from my lips. But lately, I’ve been leaning into something else: softness. Flexibility. A quiet permission to just start and accept myself exactly where I am.

This is what a soft morning looks like for me now:

  • Setting my alarm to have enough time to wake up gently

  • Not opening my phone before I open my heart.

  • Praying in my sleep before I even rise—a soft whisper to the Divine that carries over from my dreams.

  • Deep breaths before I open texts, social media, or emails.

  • Sipping juice or tea as I drive to set the tone for my body.

  • Playing affirmation videos or a book in the car as I fight through traffic, letting my commute become my classroom and my healing space.

  • Diffusing oils & deep breaths to set the tone for my work space

Please KNOW that it doesn’t have to be fancy to be sacred. Sacred is whatever feels good to YOU.

The shift started with giving myself permission to let go of the pressure to do mornings perfectly. I'm finding my freedom in creating small moments of peace, even inside the chaos. That one breath? That’s a reset. That soft affirmation? It changes my tone for the day. These moments matter.

So if you’re in a season where mornings feel more like a battlefield than a blessing, I see you. You’re not alone. And you’re not failing. You're just in a loud world, trying to return to yourself. And that’s enough.

If you want a gentle, guided way to start your day, I created something just US BOTH:

Let it be our soft landing. I put it on while I’m getting ready, driving to work, or even giving myself permission to lay in bed for 5 more minutes. It’s not about doing more—it’s about coming home to ourselves, together, in the moments we do have.

Sending you love,

ree
